Mikayla Pivec played basketball at Oregon State University (OSU) where she was an All-American who led her team to an Elite 8 and two Sweet 16s before being drafted #25 in the 2020 WNBA draft. The Covid-19 pandemic ended her college basketball career before she had an opportunity to compete for a national championship, but the NCAA refused to grant her class eligibility relief despite granting it for every other class. That’s when she realized the NCAA’s system was broken and needed a players association. She has had thousands of conversations with players to learn their stories, understand their goals, and educate them about their rights. She has testified in the Senate HELP Committee and spoken alongside the Chair of the Democratic Women’s Caucus.
